Hello Gasbusters,

Thanks very much to all of you who sent emails to the CBC environment program, ‘What On Earth,’ hosted by Laura Lynch, prior to last Sunday morning's broadcast.  The CBC segment was informative and included a reference to our work as Gasbusters.  You can listen to it and read the online excerpt by clicking on the link below. You may wish to share it with friends, neighbours, and other interested parties.  It might help to convince them of the seriousness of the ongoing use of gas-powered leaf blowers and related garden equipment.

The medical evidence presented on the harm that is caused by gas-powered leaf blowers and related garden equipment is very sobering.  Although there are encouraging signs of a shift to electric-powered devices among manufacturers, there is no urgency among residents or landscape companies to facilitate a faster conversion that will provide more immediate benefits to our environment and our collective health.  For that reason, we continue to advocate that Toronto City Council move to ban gas-powered garden equipment.  We cannot accept a casual, open-ended approach that will "kick this problem down the road" without resolution.

We will be in touch with you soon as we await the City Staff report that will be presented to Council Committee before year-end.  We will need to mobilize quickly at that time to provide feedback.

With best regards,
Gasbusters Team Organizers
