Hello Gasbusters,

The new website has been set up for a few months and has already made an impact. Our membership is nearly 600 members. The hope is that you will promote us to friends, neighbours, and other Toronto residents who abhor the persistent drone of gas leaf blowers and their contribution to both noise pollution and air pollution.
 
An even greater reason to get rid of gas leaf blowers is the battery-powered electric options are becoming more affordable and effective. You can tell other people, including gardeners, that a small cohort of noise- and climate-conscious gardeners and homeowners are switching to electric blowers and mowers as they rival the power of gas but offer a quieter and cleaner lawn care.
 
Another important reason to spread the word is the City of Toronto, who has been quietly debating whether to ban gas-powered garden equipment, is finally about to take action as a motion resulting from its 2023 motion.  In July of last year, Council voted to instruct City Staff to investigate steps to pursue a ban of two stroke small engine-powered equipment, including gas leaf blowers.  We expect that this matter will be brought back to Committee this year.  We’ll keep you posted. 
 
If you want to make a difference please engage as an “Amgassador” and encourage friends and neighbours to join Gasbusters so that we can help build the momentum to get this ban passed.
